Fr K Davine Main Oval

Davine Oval used to be called Main Oval till 1983. In that year at a special celebratory send off function for Fr Davine, Main Oval was renamed Fr K. Davine Main Oval.

According to the late Honorary Oblate, Sandra Hazel, the P & F presented the new sign to Fr Davine at this function and it was put in place next to the oval shortly afterwards. Today the sign still reads Fr K Davine Main Oval although it is commonly known as Davine Oval.

The reason behind such a sign or dedication was that Fr Davine loved coaching his sports and particularly, cricket. Most mornings at five or five thirty, then Rector of the college, Fr Davine would be down on the Main Oval rolling the pitch with the heavy roller.
