The opening of Oblate Hall in August 1984 brought a dream to fruition.
“Many of us wondered if this event would ever take place; last year, it was a dream, the previous year, a mere concept. However, on Tuesday, August 14, 1984, the dream became a reality when Father Henry McFall, the second Rector of Iona College, performed the opening ceremony and blessing, exhorting us to remember always that Oblate Hall and gymnasium, and all that takes place in it, is dedicated to the service of God.” The Ionian, 1984.
Oblate Hall became the meeting place for the whole College, and has served Iona well for 35 years. We now dare to dream of a new Gathering Space. Our community continues to grow…
