Iona Gathering Space

The Iona Gathering Space has been designed to allow the Iona community to gather and engage more directly in daily life at the College.

The Iona Gathering Space is designed to allow the Iona community to gather and engage more directly in daily life at the College. The facility will include four indoor multipurpose sports courts on a sprung timber floor. These have been planned to enable flexibility and allow the space to be utilized for large whole college & community gatherings, as well as signature sporting events, with the potential to have tiered seating for major events. It is intended the building will include the Iona Historical Precinct which will showcase memorabilia and house the college archives. This museum will complement the community space enabling the community to gather and reflect on Iona’s past. Canteen facilities, changerooms, amenities and breakout spaces will be created for additional learning and community events.

Conceived as a two-storey building, a future stage will allow for building in underneath to house purpose-built media rooms, a multipurpose 150 seat ‘black-box’ performance space, as well as extra music training rooms and staff facilities. The building will engage with the creek to the south and provide an enhanced pedestrian experience for those students arriving to the school from Lindum Station.
